Conunicato ufficiale.
Dopo aver letto una serie di commenti agli ultimi post, ci teniamo a fare una dichiarazione ufficiale : NON PASSIAMO DALL'IRAN
Non ci pensiamo nemmeno... li c'e' il rischio che se una mattina Bush si sveglia male ti ritovi in mezzo ad un'esportazione di democrazia...
Cosa fare se cerchi un buon albergo...
Entrando ad istambul... e verificando la prima incredibile somiglianza con Napoli (UN TRAFFICO MAI VISTO...) ci siamo subito posti il problema di trovare un posto dove stare per noi e per le macchine, viste le 24 ore di guida continua alle nostre spalle.. E nei momenti di bisogno, si sa', viene fuori il meglio di tutte le persone... dunque Nicholas (che teneva tra le mani una guida Lonely Planet della Turchia..) ha proposto un idea geniale: andare al tourist information... dell'aeroporto!

in and around budapest with an almost fixed car
now writing this and my last entries from OUR MECHANIC. whom we were directed to by the also very nice bloke at the scrapyard who drove around with us for ages, whom we were directed to by excellent girl Gabriella at the Fiat garage. as you may have read before, we have dubbed him Super Mario, since we have no idea what his real name is but is in any case a proper dude. he has just gone off to buy us some transmission oil and even improved our brakes for us. more later. planning to drive to istanbul through the night so will probably be even more tired by the next blog.

Non english speakers?.. NO PROBLEM!!
OK... visto che ci sono iunte voci che alcuni italiani (differenziandosi dalla gran parte del paese) non parlano molto bene inglese... cercherő di essere assiduo nel fornire informazioni in italiano... Sono stati due giorni molto interessanti quelli che ci hanno porteto a Budapest.. Cominciamo con il dire che abbiamo perfeyionato la cosiddetta "dieta mitteleuropea" saltando, qualche giorno fa, dal pranzo alla cena...del giorno successivo! dimostrando cosi in modo definitivo che l'uomo puo'nutrirsi per un breve tempo solo di birra... ma solo se non guida!! Oggi in Budapest abbiamo risolto i problemi con la nuova macchina grazie all'aiuto di Gabriella (una specie di angelo magiaro in veste di capo del customer service della FIAT della citta'... e di un meccanico che e' la copia di SUPER MARIO (BROS... infatti devo chiadergli se ha un fratello che si chiama Lugi)... L9altra macchina "Where is right e' perfetta!) ed ora si parte per istambul... A presto!

Thanks to a wonderful girl from the Budapest FIAT dealer (Gabriella GRAZIEEEEE, we will keep you posted), we located a scrapyard where to find the spare parts of our car. We are currently writing you from a garage in ther middle of nowhere near Budapest, where our new friend SUPER MARIO a mechanic that would be able to fix any piece of junk (and therefore maybe also our car) is working to mount the spare parts we got back in the car (bearing of the front right wheel and the rubbers of the transmission). We will then proceed to Istambul.....thank to all that have posted comments, keep doing it as it keeps us alive!!!
We are in Prague!!!
We finaly got to Prague (after only 4 days since the rally started). We have collected all our documents from the mongolrally organization and from tomorrow everybody will be able to follow our position from the mongolrally official web site. We also have a new problem with one of the two cars ("The last One?"), apparently one of the wheels bearing is broken..... maybe we will fix it in Istabmul, maybe here... stay posted.

avete presente cosa puo´voler dire trovarsi a un sacco (ma dico un sacco sul serio, viaggiatori della domenica che non siete altro...) di chilometri da casa, o da qualunque altra forma urbanistica occidentale conosciuta o familiare... e contemplare paesaggi da sogno che solo i piu´impavidi viaggiatori possono arrivare a conoscere?... beh.. io no... perche´con questi tre del team mongoliath fino adesso sara´tanto riuscire ad uscire dal Benelux... ma siamo speranzosi per il futuro... almeno cosi´assicura il nostro capo meccanico... ne ho viste di cose io....
On the road again!!!
Dopo le vicissitudini dei giorni scorsi, siamo pronti a ripartire con una nuova (si fa per dire) FIAT PANDA 1000 FIRE. Nome della macchina "The last one?", prospettive di funzionamento... poche. Domani la tappa é Praga, quattro volte la distanza coperta nel precedente tentativo. Vi faremo spaere.....

looks like we or the visa service lost diego's international drivers permit so we now have 1 IDP between us. oh well, only 15000km to go. Currently working on plans A through F

mONgOLIATH I also known as Was it Left? is no more. the mechanic reckons the valves are shot from the breaking of the distributor belt. on the search for another car and international driving permit. still on holiday in leiden.
